“I’m the mum of a three year old with a peanut allergy and this is my review of Inn On The Park, a cafe in Verulamium Park, St. Albans! Open pretty much all day every day, it was the 2012 winner of the ‘Most Family Friendly Venue’ at the St. Albans Food and Drink Festival. However the reason it gets my vote is that I recently contacted the owner, Wendy Hooper, to ask about whether or not peanuts are used in the kitchens at the Inn. Wendy said that the staff are aware of allergies, having had recent training, however peanut butter was on the menu… not so good for us! However, after several emails backwards and forwards, with Wendy then asking me a whole host of questions about peanut allergy, she suddenly sent me an amazing email saying that she’d decided to completely remove peanut butter from the daytime menu and no longer serve peanuts in the evening. The site is now peanut free! Aside from the yummy cakes, icecream, toasties etc. it is lovely to meet someone who listens and then is proactive about doing something in response. Wendy couldn’t have been more helpful or informative regarding the ingredients used in the cafe and in making positive changes. Thank you so much! Highly recommended!”
